Earlier this month, the 4th annual North Shore Flag Football League Festival brought over 40 teams of kids from all along the East Coast to the practice fields of Gillette Stadium. But this turnout, while impressive, may only be the beginning. |
| The festival featured appearances by the New England Patriots’ cheerleaders as well as the team’s mascot, Pat the Patriot, who was a big hit with the kids. The tournament itself divided the players into 4 age groups (6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-17), Three of the four division champions were hometown teams from Peabody, but the 9-11 year old division went to Mo Steel, a team that came all the way from Miami, Florida. Mo Steel’s head coach, Brian Levy, made his praise for the event’s organization and overall atmosphere well known and plans to return next year. |

But next year, his team may not be the one that has to travel the farthest. Austin Bradshaw, the festival’s primary organizer and director of the North Shore Flag Football League, has expressed his desire to transform the event into an international one. According to him, Canada, Venezuela, and Mexico all showed interest in attending the festival this year. The festival always grants young players the opportunity to meet their counterparts from other states. If Bradshaw accomplishes his goal, they may get to meet other kids from other countries |
