USA Football is now taking applications. All American female flag football players are eligible to apply for Team USA and represent our country in Sweden.
This tournament will unite 12 females across the country, who together will represent the United States playing America’s favorite sport.
“The IFAF Flag World Championship provides a unique opportunity for flag football players across the country to play against the best flag football players in the world,” USA Football Flag and Female Football Development Senior Manager Sam Rapoport said. “Team members will get the unique opportunity to travel with their teammates and experience flag football at the international level in Gothenburg, Sweden – an experience few can say they’ve had.”
To be eligible to play, players must present an identity document, either a passport or a government accepted document that includes a photograph, date of birth and nationality when the tournament is being played.
The 5-on-5, no contact flag football tournament costs $1,000, which includes the team entry fee, officiating fee, a jersey, lodging and food (for travel dates only). All players are responsible to pay for their own flights.
USA Football exclusively assembles America’s national teams for international competitions conducted by football’s international federation (IFAF), which consists of 62 member countries spanning six continents. The team will be selected by head coach David Fried on or before March 1, 2012.
